On the morning of May 18, 2018, a shooting incident occurred in Santa Fe High school in Texas, and the nearby area was blocked. This is the third shooting in the United States in the past 7 days and the 22nd shooting in the United States since 2018. The case caused at least 10 deaths (8 students, 2 teachers) and more than 30 people were injured. One of the suspects was Dimitrios Pagourtzis, a 17-year-old student of the school. The other one is also the student of the school. They were both arrested by the police.
The police conducted a search on site and in nearby areas, and suspected explosive devices were found on campus and outside the campus. The police called on the public to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious item. The White House half-mast flags the victims.
President Donald Trump offered a speech and responded to the Santa Fe shooting is bad even for him. Trump said “This has been going on too long in our country. Too many years, too many decades now.” He described the violence as an “absolutely horrific attack.”
First Lady Melanie tweeted “My heart goes out to Santa Fe and all of Texas today.”
The gunman, 17-year-old Dimitrios Pagourtzis, Who was once part of the school’s football team. According to the latest news, Dimitrios Pagourtzis carried out this “school killing” because he was rejected by his beloved girl. The girl, Shana Fisher, was one of 10 victims.
Before this shooting case, Shana Fisher just had her 16 sweet birthday. Shana Fisher’s mother told the interviewers the murderer had been chasing her daughter for months, but Shana didn’t respond to him. Thus, the murderer became more and more anxious and impatient. 
A week before the incident, Shana Fisher finally couldn’t stand it, rejecting Dimitrios Pagourtzis in front of her classmates and saying something embarrassing.
The family of Dimitrios Pagourtzis said he was a quiet, thoughtful boy and did not expect such a thing to happen.
According to police, they found Dimitrios’s diary, which revealed details of his decision to commit suicide. In fact, in his diary, even in his personal computer and mobile phone, he said he would commit the shooting and would kill himself after the shooting.
The official said: “He had given up on himself, but he had no courage to kill himself after the shooting, although he had thought of suicide before.”

There are more and more school shooting in the United States. The most controversial issue is about gun use. However, it is not possible to ban guns in the near future. In the Constitution, the 2nd Amendment protects every American’s right to keep and bear arms. Gun is part of American culture, and the United States deals with many arms transactions. The effectiveness way is to raise the age of the purchase of guns, and strengthen the background of the gun purchasers. President Trump appealed teachers to carry guns to school so that they can protect students and themselves. It is not a good way to do that. First, it will cause panic at school. Second, it is not too much safe for teachers to carry the guns to school. For example, a high school teacher accidentally shot and injured a student at a school safety class in Seattle, California, on March 13. Even though prohibiting the guns, there are other weapons: knives, bombs. While everyone is thinking about the issue of guns use, is there anyone thinking about why is this happened, what is the origin this case? The more we think behind it not only just the gun problem, but also the education.
